Accociate Vice President for Information Technology
Jeffrey L. Whitten

Jeffrey L. "Jeff" Whitten is the associate vice president for Enterprise Applications for ITaP. A Purdue graduate, he joined Purdue's Computer Technology department in 1979 and developed a five-course systems analysis and design sequence, the most ambitious curriculum of its type at that time. He twice won the James G. Dwyer Award as the best teacher in the School of Technology as selected by the school’s students.

Jeff was named department head of Computer Technology (CPT) in 1988 and served in that capacity until joining ITaP in May of 2002. He is the author of Systems Analysis and Design Methods which has been adopted by more than 700 schools, translated into several languages, and issued in six editions spanning eighteen years.

Jeff is active in the Association for Information Technology (AITP), Association of Information Systems (AIS), Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and the Society for Information Management (SIM). Since joining ITaP, he has been championing the OnePurdue vision that will eventually replace the Purdue enterprise application portfolio with an ERP and sophisticated reporting and business intelligence.

Jeff received his B.S. in Industrial Management with a Computer Science minor from Purdue University in 1976 his master's in Computer Science with a Management Information Systems concentration from Purdue University in 1979.
