Systems and Operations
IT Systems and Operations provides much of the behind-the-scenes work that makes communication and computers on campus work. Systems and Operations consists of these key areas:
Facilities, Systems, and Operations
- Offers system and application monitoring and Outage Notification Process for the data centers housing Purdue's production infrastructure systems
- Provides service management and project management for infrastructure-related and customer components and efforts
Infrastructure Services
- Administers Windows, Mainframe, and UNIX systems as well as enterprise storage assets including SAN, NAS, and backup hardware and associated management software

Blackboard Vista - March: Physical disk errors.
Career Accounts - March: Scheduled Patching maintenance ran long due to problems.
Exchange - September: Exchange 2010 service became unavailable, restarting the Exchange server that was not accepting connections to the F5 load balancer fixed the issue. It only affected 1,000 of the 14,000 users in the Exchange environment.
Blackboard Vista - August: Received User complaints about the inability to log in and overall poor response time.
Blackboard Vista - July: Scheduled outage was extended due to Unix OS upgrades taking longer than expected.
Career Accounts - July: Lost network connectivity. Possibly switch or cable related.
Blackboard Vista - June: Upgrade to Oracle 11G, experienced some problems with Data Guard. Maintenance window ran long while troubleshooting.
Exchange - May: CAS implementation issues during a scheduled downtime.
