Purdue Research Opportunities Program

Dates: May 31, 2009 - July 26, 2009

Eligibility

1) are currently enrolled in a degree granting program at a U.S. college or university;
2) have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale;
3) have an interest in pursuing graduate education; and
4) are available to participate in the entire eight-week summer program.

Applications are being reviewed beginning May 1, 2009. To apply, send the following to rochon@purdue.edu

1) letter indicating career goals, special qualifications, graduate school plans and interest in participating in the PROP
2) college transcript(s)
3) nomination from university faculty or administrator
4) resume

Program Components
 Skill Enhancement
 Research
 Orientation to Successful Matriculation in Graduate School

The PROP program covers:

- Roundtrip airfare from the students' home or school and shuttle from Indianapolis or Chicago airports to West Lafayette, Indiana.
- Housing on campus for 8 weeks (May 31-July 25) - Meals not covered
- Purdue Library access
- Purdue Athletics Center Membership for Summer
- Transport and Registration to present at the Big Ten Student Research Conference
- GRE Prep
- Research Mentoring with a Purdue Faculty Member
- Various social events, lectures and panel discussions (e.g. Chicago, Indy, Taste of Tippecanoe, awards banquet)
- $4,000 stipend

The PROP2009 Summer Institute is supported by the ITAP Rosen Center for Advanced Computing's Purdue Terrestrial Observatory and the Indiana Space Grant Consortium (and NASA).
