Pitney Bowes - Postal (Finalist and Mailer's Choice)

This mainframe system was purchased from Pitney Bowes. There were no modifications to products. An interfacing subroutine was written for Finalist to shield our applications from parameter & workarea changes. It was first installed March 1987. Continual upgrades were made to conform with USPS regulations. It formats and enhances the mailing address as well as prepares electronic files for the USPS; creates needed USPS documentation; achieves postal discounts for the University's group mailings. The data sources are files containing names and addresses.

SSA Name Search

A utility purchased and installed in 1996. Not modified, but highly configured. This utility provides name searching, comparison, and scoring functions. We are using it on the Windows and Unix platforms. It is used by, and the data is entered into, the SIS and PUID systems.

A server on the mainframe that allows SAS datasets to be accessed simultaneously either by using Brio or other reporting tools. This function was implemented on the mainframe in 2001.
