Account Deletion Checklist
(leaving department)

Please review the following checklist prior to requesting an ITaP Exchange account be deleted for someone leaving the department - they will continue to be employed by Purdue University - just in a different area:

    Please see the checklist below:
    1. If the individual is leaving the department to move to another position within Purdue University, please be sure they know their directory password.

      (By ensuring they know their directory password, they will be able to edit their directory entry to make any necessary changes - office, fax, service, etc.)

    2. Request the individual moving to the new department contact their new area to find out what the preferred e-mail system is. (ITaP Exchange, Mailhub, departmental server, etc.)


    3. Once the preferred e-mail system of their new department is known, if the preferred system is:

      1. ITaP Exchange
        Leave ITaP Exchange account, NT account, and "forward" in their directory entry. Notify exchange-admin that the individual's employing department is changing. Send mail to:

        To: exchange-admin@purdue.edu
        Subject: chg dept (alias)

        Include: alias, name, & new department information

      2. Mailhub
        1. Have them set the "service" field of their directory entry to "store".


        2. Request all email address be removed from their ITaP Exchange account. Send the request to:

          To: exchange-admin@purdue.edu
          Subject: rm e-addr (alias)

          Please note: This will stop all incoming mail to their Exchange account.

        3. Request they login to their ITaP Exchange account and "forward" any personal mail they wish to keep to their directory entry.


        4. Once they have completed any needed access to their Exchange account, request the deletion of their ITaP Exchange account. Send the request to:

          To: exchange-admin@purdue.edu
          Subject: rm exchg-acct (alias)

      3. Departmental server
        1. Have them set the "service" field of their directory entry to "forward" to their new departmental server e-mail address.


        2. Request all email address be removed from their ITaP Exchange account. Send the request to:

          To: exchange-admin@purdue.edu
          Subject: rm e-addr (alias)

          Please note: This will stop all incoming mail to their Exchange account.

        3. Request they login to their ITaP Exchange account and "forward" any personal mail they wish to keep to their directory entry.


        4. Once they have completed any needed access to their Exchange account, request the deletion of their ITaP Exchange account. Send the request to:

          To: exchange-admin@purdue.edu
          Subject: rm exchg-acct (alias)
