What services does the smtp.purdue.edu (@purdue.edu) routing service provide?

The 'smtp.purdue.edu' servers:

• process e-mail sent to '@purdue.edu' e-mail addresses,
• provide SMTP/ESMTP routing for Purdue-affiliated hosts,
• perform virus scanning on all e-mail that is sent through these servers,
• provide SMTP authentication.  This enables Purdue-affiliated individuals to send e-mail to any e-mail address from any host.
• route e-mail through the spam scanning service in those cases where the recipient has chosen to use the spam scanning service.
