Eudora 6.x (Windows)
NOTE: The screenshots show a configuration example for Veronica Smyth. You will need to substitute her alias of vsmyth and e-mail address of vsmyth@purdue.edu with your own.
- Before starting Eudora, you will need to enable more configuration options. If you are currently running Eudora, please close and exit the application.
Using Windows Explorer or by clicking on My Computer, navigate to the Eudora program folder. The path is most likely C:\Program Files\Qualcomm\Eudora.
- Open the extrastuff folder and copy the esoteric.epi file back to the main Eudora folder (ie. C:\Program Files\Qualcomm\Eudora).
- Right click on the filename esoteric.epi and select Copy.
- Return to the Eudora folder by clicking on the folder icon that has an up arrow.
- Right click on a blank section of the window background and select Paste.
- Start Eudora
- First time users may see the following screens. If so, click Next, select Skip directly to advanced account setup and click Finish

- Cancel out of the next screen: Account Settings for <Dominant>.
- Under the Tools menu, select Options...
- Select the Getting Started tab:
- Real Name: Your own name as you want it to appear to others
- Return Address: Your @purdue.edu address
- Mail server (Incoming): your_alias.mail.purdue.edu
- User Name: your_alias
- SMTP server (Outgoing): smtp.purdue.edu
- Allow authentication: Checked
- Select the Checking Mail tab:
- Mail server: your_alias.mail.purdue.edu
- Login Name: your_alias
- Secure Sockets when Receiving: Required, STARTTLS
- Select the Incoming Mail tab:
- Server configuration: Select IMAP
- Select the Sending Mail tab:
- Return Address: Your @purdue.edu address
- SMTP server: smtp.purdue.edu
- Allow authentication: Checked
- Secure Sockets when Sending: Required, STARTTLS
- Select the Ports tab (scroll down to bottom):
- Click OK
- Restart Eudora
