Eudora 6.0 / 6.2 (Mac OS X)
NOTE: The screenshots show a configuration example for Veronica Smyth. You will need to substitute her alias of vsmyth and e-mail address of vsmyth@purdue.edu with your own.
- Click here for instructions on how to configure Eudora so that you are able to change the default ports Eudora uses.
- Start Eudora
- In the Eudora menu select Preferences...

- Under Getting Started, use the following settings:
Username: your_alias
Mail Server: your_alias.mail.purdue.edu
Real Name: Your own name as you want it to appear to others
SMTP Server: smtp.purdue.edu
Return Address: Your @purdue.edu address
Click OK

- Under Checking Mail, use the following settings:
Username: your_alias
Mail Server: your_alias.mail.purdue.edu
Mail Protocol: Click on IMAP
Save Password: checked
Keep the other settings the same.
Click OK

- Under Sending Mail, use the following settings:
Return Address: Your @purdue.edu address
SMTP Server: smtp.purdue.edu
Allow Authentication: select Password
Keep the other settings the same.
Click OK

- Under SSL, use the following settings:
SSL for SMTP:Required (TLS)
SSL for IMAP:Required (Alternate Port)
Keep the other settings the same.
**Note: SSL authentication has been reported to cause problems in a few isolated instances. If you experience any problems sending email, please set the above SSL options to None.
Click OK

- Under Ports and Protocols, use the following settings:
SMTP Port: 587
IMAP Port: 143
Click OK

- Restart Eudora
