Outlook Express 6.x
NOTE: The screenshots show a configuration example for Veronica Smyth. You will need to substitute her alias of vsmyth and e-mail address of vsmyth@purdue.edu with your own.
- To update your existing settings, click here.
- Start Outlook Express.
- In the Tools menu, click Accounts...
- Click Add and select Mail...
- Enter your name as you'd like it to appear to others then click Next.
- Enter your @purdue.edu address then click Next.
- In the E-Mail Server Names Window, use the following settings:
My incoming mail server is aIMAPserver.
Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server:your_alias.mail.purdue.edu
Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: smtp.purdue.edu
Then click Next.
- In the Internet Mail Logon Window enter the following:
Account Name: your_alias
Password: your_password
Remember password: Checked
Then click Next.
- Click Finished.
- Select the account you just created and click Properties
- Use the following settings in the Servers tab
Incoming mail (IMAP): your_alias.mail.purdue.edu
Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp.purdue.edu
Account Name: your_alias
Password: your_password
Remember Password: Checked
My server requires authentication: Checked
- Click on Settings... and enter the following:
Account Name: your_alias
Password: your_password
Remember password: Checked
Then click OK
- Under Advanced tab:
- Click OK to close the Properties Window.
- Click Close to close the Internet Accounts Window.
