Apple Mail (Mac OS X 10.3 - Panther)
NOTE: The screenshots show a configuration example for Veronica Smyth. You will need to substitute her alias of vsmyth and e-mail address of vsmyth@purdue.edu with your own.
- Start Apple Mail
If you are just changing an existing account, skip to step 3
- In the Welcome to Mail window enter the following information:
Your Name: Your own name as you want it to appear to others
E-mail Address: Your @purdue.edu address
Incoming Mail Server: your_alias .mail.purdue.edu
Mail Server Type: Click on IMAP
User Name: your_alias
Password: your_password
Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.purdue.edu
Click OK

- In the Mail menu, select Preferences

- Select the account you want to modify and click Edit

- Click Options... in the Account Infomation tab

- In the SMTP Server Options window, enter the following:
Server port: 587
Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): checked
Authentication: select Password
User Name: your_alias
Password: your_password
Click OK

- Click on the Advanced tab and change the following:
Port: 993
Use SSL: checked
Authentication: select Password
Click OK

- Restart Apple Mail
