Entourage X / 2004

NOTE: The screenshots show a configuration example for Veronica Smyth. You will need to substitute her alias of vsmyth and e-mail address of vsmyth@purdue.edu with your own.

If you only need to update your existing settings, please move on to Step 14.

 

  1. Start Entourage 
  2. Enter your first and last names in the appropriate boxes

    Click Next

  3. Click Accept

    *

     

  4. In the Entourage Setup Assistant enter your first and last name in the appropriate boxes.

    Click the right arrow

    *

     

  5. Fill in requested information (optional)

    Click the right arrow

    *

     

  6. Select I want to start using Entourage without importing anything.

    Click the right arrow

    *

     

  7. Click on the right arrow.

    *

     

  8. Enter your name as you would like it to appear in messages you send.

    Click the right arrow

    *

     

  9. Enter your @purdue.edu address then click the right arrow.

    *

     

  10. Make the following changes in the Mail Servers window.

     

      My incoming server is a(n) IMAP server.
      Incoming mail server: your_alias.mail.purdue.edu
      Ougoing (SMTP) mail server: smtp.purdue.edu

    Click the right arrow

  11. Enter the following in the Account ID and Password window.

     

      Account ID: your_alias
      Password: your_password
      Save password in my Mac OS keychain: Checked

    Click the right arrow

  12. In the Congratulations window, enter an account name for the account you just created.

    Click Finish

  13. Under the Tools menu, click Accounts

    *

     

  14. Select the account to modify

    *

     

  15. In Edit Account under Receiving mail click on Click here for advanced receiving options

    *

     

  16. In the window that pops up, check the following:
      This IMAP service requires a secure connection (SSL)

    Hit return to get back to the Edit Account window

    *

     

  17. In Edit Account under Sending mail click on Click here for advanced sending options

    In the window that pops up, check the following:

      SMTP service requires secure connection (SSL): Checked
      Override default SMTP port: 587
      SMTP server requires authentication
      Use same settings as receiving mail server

    Hit return to get back to the Edit Account window

  18. Click OK then close the Accounts window.

     

  19. Restart Entuorage
