Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0.x

NOTE: The screenshots show a configuration example for Veronica Smyth. You will need to substitute her alias of vsmyth and e-mail address of vsmyth@purdue.edu with your own.

  1. Start Mozilla Thunderbird 1.x
  2. First time users may see the following screen. If so, click Next.

  3. Your Name: Your own name as you want it to appear to others
    Email Address: Your @purdue.edu address
    Click Next.

  4. Select IMAP
    • Incoming Server: your_alias.mail.purdue.edu
    • Outgoing Server: smtp.purdue.edu
    Click Next.

  5. Incoming User Name: vsmyth
    Outgoing User Name: vsmyth
    Note: This should be your @purdue.edu account username.

  6. Account name: Any account name you wish

    *

     

  7. Summary of your configuration. Click Finish.

    *

     

  8. Under Edit or Tools menu...select Account Settings
  9. Select the Server Settings Tab
    • Use Secure Connection (SSL): Checked

      *


  10. Select the Outgoing Server (SMTP) Tab
    • Use Secure Connection: TLS
    • Port: 587

      *


  11. Click OK.
