Eudora 5.1 / 5.2 (Windows)

NOTE: The screenshots show a configuration example for Veronica Smyth. You will need to substitute her alias of vsmyth and e-mail address of vsmyth@purdue.edu with your own.

     

  1. Start Eudora
  2. First time users may see the following screens. If so, click Next, select Skip directly to advanced account setup and click Finish

  3. Under the Tools menu, select Options...
  4. Select the Getting Started tab:
    • Real Name: Your own name as you want it to appear to others
    • Return Address: Your @purdue.edu address
    • Mail server (Incoming): your_alias.mail.purdue.edu
    • Login Name: your_alias
    • SMTP server (Outgoing): smtp.purdue.edu
    • Allow authentication: Checked

  5. Select the Checking Mail tab:
    • Mail server: your_alias.mail.purdue.edu
    • Login Name: your_alias
    • Secure Sockets when Receiving: Required, Alternate Port

  6. Select the Incoming Mail tab:
    • Server configuration: Select IMAP

    *

     

  7. Select the Sending Mail tab:
    • Return Address: Your @purdue.edu address
    • SMTP server: smtp.purdue.edu
    • Allow authentication: Checked
    • Secure Sockets when Sending: Required, Alternate Port

  8. Click OK

     

  9. Restart Eudora
