What is the Spam Scanning Service Policy?
Subscription- Spam scanning is an opt-out service for users who set their mailhub mail service to store
- Users who set spam scanning to "enabled" will have their mail scanned even if they later choose to forward their mail
- Users who set spam scanning to "disabled" will not have it turned on automatically even if they switch out of and then back to "store"
- Users who set their service to "forward" are auto-disabled unless they have already explicitly enabled spam scanning
- @lists.purdue.edu are automatically enabled
Scanning- Mail coming into @purdue.edu will be spam scanned if the recipient has spam scanning enabled
- Exceptions to #1 include mail sent from the ITaP webmail client, the ITaP Exchange server, the Purdue Business Mail server, and messages sent by SMTP authenticated users
- Messages above 2M in size are not spam scanned
Quarantine- Messages scoring above 50% are quarantined by the spam scanner
- Quarantined messages and their corresponding digests are kept for only 10 days
- Digests of newly quarantined messages are sent daily
- Individual quarantines can be accessed at any time via the web interface (https://spamq.purdue.edu)
