Outlook 2007

NOTE: The screenshots show a configuration example for Veronica Smyth. You will need to substitute her alias of vsmyth and e-mail address of vsmyth@purdue.edu with your own.

  1. To update your existing settings, click here.
  2. Start Outlook.
  3. In the Tools menu, click Account Settings.

  4. In the E-mail tab, click New

  5. Check Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next

  6. Choose Internet E-mail and click Next

    *

     

  7. In the Internet E-mail Settings window, enter:
    • Your Name:   Your own name as you want it to appear to others
    • E-mail Address:   Your @purdue.edu address
    • Account Type:   IMAP
    • Incoming mail server:   your_alias.mail.purdue.edu
    • Outgoing mail server (SMTP):   smtp.purdue.edu
    Logon Information
    • Username:   your_alias

    In the example shown, you will need to substitute Veronica's alias of vsmyth with your own.

  8. Click the More Settings button.
  9. Under Outgoing Server tab:
    • My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication:   CHECKED
    • Use same settings as my incoming mail server:   CHECKED

    • Under Advanced tab:
      • Incoming server (IMAP):   143
      • Use the following type of encrypted connection:   TLS

        •  

      • Outgoing server (SMTP):   587
      • Use the following type of encrypted connection:   TLS

    • Click OK to close the Internet E-mail Settings Window.
    • Click Next then Finish to close the E-mail Accounts Window.
    • Restart Outlook.
