Outlook 2007
NOTE: The screenshots show a configuration example for Veronica Smyth. You will need to substitute her alias of vsmyth and e-mail address of vsmyth@purdue.edu with your own.
- To update your existing settings, click here.
- Start Outlook.
- In the Tools menu, click Account Settings.
- In the E-mail tab, click New
- Check Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next
- Choose Internet E-mail and click Next
- In the Internet E-mail Settings window, enter:
- Your Name: Your own name as you want it to appear to others
- E-mail Address: Your @purdue.edu address
- Account Type: IMAP
- Incoming mail server: your_alias.mail.purdue.edu
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.purdue.edu
Logon Information
In the example shown, you will need to substitute Veronica's alias of vsmyth with your own.
- Click the More Settings button.
- Under Outgoing Server tab:
- My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication: CHECKED
- Use same settings as my incoming mail server: CHECKED
- Under Advanced tab:
- Incoming server (IMAP): 143
- Use the following type of encrypted connection: TLS
- Outgoing server (SMTP): 587
- Use the following type of encrypted connection: TLS
- Click OK to close the Internet E-mail Settings Window.
- Click Next then Finish to close the E-mail Accounts Window.
- Restart Outlook.
