General Description

This article will explain the process of resetting a career account password and how you can reset if you have forgotten your password.

NOTE: Faculty and Staff should follow the reset method that is recommended by their Technical Support area. Below are the different ways one can reset their password.

Step by Step Instructions

The easiest way to reset your forgotten Purdue Career Account password is to set up your challenge questions and do it yourself anytime, anywhere. Your challenge questions must be set up prior to needing your password reset.

To set up your Challenge questions:

  1. Go to http://www.purdue.edu/securepurdue
  2. Click on the "Change Your Password" link
  3. Enter your Purdue Career Account Login or PUID and Password in the Login box
  4. Click on the "Password Challenge Questions" link

  5. Complete the questions you would like to be asked when you use this service to reset your password. You must complete at least 3 questions
  6. Click on "Save Changes"

For Students, Faculty, and Staff that have completed their challenge questions:

  1. Go to http://www.purdue.edu/securepurdue
  2. Click on the "Change Your Password" link
  3. From the Login screen, click "here" in the "Forgot your password? Click here to reset it." phrase below the login box.
  4. Enter your PUID number and click "Continue"
  5. Enter your date of birth in the correct format (mm/dd/yyyy) and click "Continue"
  6. Answer the challenge questions you selected and click "Continue"
  7. Enter a new password twice and click on "Reset Password"

For Students, Faculty, and Staff that have not set up their challenge questions:

  1. Go to the ITaP Customer Service Center in STEW G65 and swipe your Purdue ID card. This is your most secure method.
  2. Then, go to http://www.purdue.edu/securepurdue to complete your challenge questions for next time

For Students, Faculty, and Staff that have not set up their challenge questions and are not on campus:

Call the ITaP Customer Service Center at (765) 494-4000 to request a password reset. Be sure you have handy the following information:

  • Your 10 digit PUID number
  • Your name as it appears on official Purdue mailings
  • Your Purdue Career Account login

You will be asked additional questions for verification purposes

Once your password is changed, go to http://www.purdue.edu/securepurdue to complete your challenge questions for next time

For Students, Faculty and Staff that know their password and wish to reset it before it expires:

  1. Go to http://www.purdue.edu/securepurdue and click on the "Change Password" link.
  2. Faculty and Staff should follow the reset method that is recommended by your Technical Support area
  3. If you know your computer is a member of the onepurdue domain, then you may reset your password through your operating system.
  4. Be sure to log off of all applications and connections before resetting your password.

For a PC using a Windows operating system:

  • Press Ctrl/Alt/Delete at the same time
  • In the window that displays, validate that you are in the onepurdue domain locating in the "Logon Information" box ONEPURDUE\"your alias"
  • In that same window, click on the "Change Password" button. Wait 5 minutes for your password to pass through the system

For an Apple operating system:

  • Click on System Preferences
  • Select "Accounts"
  • Select the onepurdure account
  • Click "Change Password"

Troubleshooting

NOTE: If your Purdue Career Account password expires and does not allow you to access the OnePurdue or myPurdue applications, that does not mean it has expired in the IAMO reset site. Because of this, you may use the instructions above to change your Purdue Career Account password to regain access to the OnePurdue and myPurdue applications.
