Technology Coordinator Responsibilities

Your role as Technology Coordinator is as the liaison between your department and the department of ITaP Customer Relations Desktop Computing Services. Your role is crucial to the day-to-day interactions between the two areas and ensures an open line of communication, which leads to accurate, timely technological support. By providing accurate information from a single point of contact, our ability to respond or rectify the request will be greatly enhanced.

Following are some of the responsibilities you will incur with this position:

You are the primary communicator of policies and procedures relating to system issues. Your participation within the Technology Coordinator’s Committee will keep you abreast of any issues as well as provide your department’s input into decisions governing the direction of computing support. A basic understanding of Windows/Microsoft Office products as well as a basic understanding of your departmental applications will be necessary.

Please identify a back-up Technology Coordinator to act in your absence.

Notify ITCR in the event of your absence. We will then coordinate any issues with your identified back-up to ensure that consistent service is provided.

You will attend one-hour monthly Technology Coordinator’s meetings. You should communicate items you learn to all staff in your department. The ITCR Operations Manager will also meet with you on a monthly basis, if you desire.

You are solely responsible for requesting account additions, deletions, or changes for your area (i.e. Network, Exchange). The involvement of other departments is often required in order to accommodate these requests. Thus, a 2-3 day period must be expected for completion.

Account additions should be reported as soon as the new employee has been identified and account deletions upon the same day the employee is terminated.

New hardware or software purchases will be discussed with the ITCR Operations Manager. Price quotes will be generated and any special needs discussed at this time.

You are a valued participant with all system projects in your area. (i.e., upgrades to software or hardware, etc.) You will be asked to evaluate your department’s needs and assist in developing a plan to meet those needs.
