Apple iPhone

The Apple iPhone(tm) provides quick, easy access to email, contacts, calendar, web browsing, satellite maps, connection to Purdue's PAL2.0 wireless infrastructure, Purdue's Cisco Virtual Private Network (VPN), as well as access to your music and videos.

The iPhone 2.0 software allows sending and receiving email on the go via the AT&T EDGE or 3G wireless network and the Purdue Air Link wireless network.

The Desktop Computing Services Group now offers support for the Apple iPhone wireless handheld device running Apple iPhone 2.0 software or greater. This includes original iPhones (if upgraded to software version 2.0 or subsequent releases) as well as the new iPhone 3G.

Faculty and staff with personal devices may request an annual service agreement with DCS as part of the Electronic Device Technology Allowance process through their department's business office which includes:

  • configuration assistance
  • device hardware troubleshooting
  • Exchange connectivity assistance
  • Purdue Network connectivity assistance
  • Purdue VPN connectivity assistance
  • future upgrade assistance
  • general assistance with your iPhone

There is a one-year minimum charge of $40.00 for the annual service agreement.

How to Purchase a iPhone

Personal iPhone purchases must be made at AT&T or Apple retail outlets.

All University owned iPhone purchase requests should be processed through the Telephone Office. Departments wishing to purchase DCS service agreements for iPhone devices must also contact the Telephone Office.
