Purdue is now part of the Access Grid, a network of more than 70 domestic and international sites using high-speed Internet connections to enable truly interactive meetings among participants. The Purdue Access Grid node, in Room 209 of Stewart Center, provides live interactive audio and video for distributed meetings, remote visualization and collaboration, and distance education.
The Purdue Access Grid facility utilizes multiple cameras and screens
to allow participants to move around the room and incorporate non-digital
materials into their presentations. The Access Grid also supports multimedia
display applications, such as PowerPoint, MPEG video, and OpenGL windows.
Providing real time video and audio, the Access Grid facility can be useful
in supporting large-scale distributed meetings, collaborative work sessions,
seminars, lectures, tutorials, and training.
