On August 1st, 2003, ITaP Infrastructure will streamline the mainframe
account request process.
Why did the process change?
After a thorough examination of the process, we found that ACID requests
were being processed once or twice a week with several manual notification
forms being generated afterwards. We also recognized that we were not
receiving all of the necessary user signatures through the current Mainframe
User Responsibility (Acknowledgement) Form.
This project was initiated to:
-
Streamline the current process by eliminating manual processes
where possible.
-
Accelerate the ACID creation and notification process
-
Ensure we receive the needed mainframe user’s signature
What will change and how will it affect me?
There will be 3 primary changes to the process:
-
We are asking that Departmental Requesters capture the new
mainframe user’s signature before submitting the Form 182. The
Acknowledgement Form (this is the form that the user signs, agreeing
to abide by University Mainframe policies) has actually been merged into
the Form 182. This merge will ensure we capture the new user’s
signature before creating the account, plus totally eliminate the need
to audit for returned signatures.
-
The MVS Security Administrator will process ACID-related requests
on a daily basis.
-
There will be an electronic notification sent out daily, stating
what ACIDs have been set up, changed, or deleted.
