Envision Facility Update
Black plastic still covers the windows in the hallway connecting the Union and Stewart Center, but progress is being made on converting the former Billiards Room into the Envision Center. Demolition in the area is complete, and remodeling has begun. Partitions are already being erected. Some equipment is being ordered now, including the tiled display wall and some haptics devices. Also, most of the staff members for the project have moved from Math and Young into the office area adjacent to the Customer Service Center in Stewart Center, Room G068. Watch for the announcement of a grand opening this fall!

ITaP Customer Service Center Open in G068 of Stewart Center
The information center staffed by Instructional Computing Services was, for many years, housed on the second floor of the Math Building. Now relocated in Room G068, Stewart Center, it has a new, broader mission and a new name: the ITaP Customer Service Center. The central location offers convenience for customers and also allows for expansion of services to include more information resources and individual consulting.

The service desk at the center is the single point of contact for WebCT questions and related service requests and also provides assistance to faculty, students and staff on a wide variety of issues involving ITaP services. Help is available on a walk-in basis as well as by phone and email. One-on-one consulting is available. The service desk also will be a point of contact for the new 44000 telephone number.

SIS Release 3.05 Adds Important New Functionality
An update (Release 3.05 ) of the Student Information System has been completed by the TRAX team of Enterprise Applications and will be available to end users June 2. Among the many new features, this release permits advisors and students to get instant replies to “What if” queries and simplifies scheduling venues.

In the Student Information System used by faculty and staff, the new release:

  • Provides SIS users with the same restricted directory information listed in the SI.
  • Makes SIS the authoritative source for the international home address.
  • Reformats the campus address.
  • Filters sections of the course roster with no enrollment.
  • Makes SIS the authoritative source for progress reports. (“Progress” and “What if” reports will run in "real time" which permits advisors to monitor multiple majors and make permanent course substitutions in a student's progress report.)
  • Displays financial information on SIS on the web for staff in the Division of Financial Aid, Bursar’s Office, and University Collections Office.
  • Adds TOEFL scores to SIS.

Among the list process functions, the new release:

  • Adds undeliverable flag for email and postal addresses.
  • Adds recognition, source and date official flag.
  • Adds facilitator along with Distributed Material.

Among the venue enhancements, the new release:

  • Locates meeting conflicts for resolution by Space Management and Academic Scheduling (SMAS) staff.
  • Monitors venues for over-capacity and produces a report so that the problem can be resolved by Space Management and Academic Scheduling.
  • Handles scheduling of odd/even weeks of a session.
  • Flags events with participants needing ADA accessibility.

In the SSINFO system used by students, enhancements in the new release include:

  • Breaking costs into component parts that match the Award Notification Letter.
  • Notifying students upon login that financial aid is initialized or revised so the students can check their aid status.
  • Making available immediate responses to “What if” queries
