The wasteful printing of paper in the ITaP computer labs is costly to you, the University community, and the environment. In an effort to cap printing costs, reduce waste and the abuse of printing resources, a print quota system was implemented on June 12, 2006, at the start of the second summer module. All faculty, staff and students are provided with an allotment of free prints per semester. Once your print quota is exhausted, a per-print fee is charged. You will only be charged if you exhause your allotment of free prints.
The practice of charging for printing has become increasingly common at colleges and universities. By combining free quotas with a cost recovery system for exceeding quotas, we can reduce the careless waste of paper but still provide sufficient access to free printing for students, faculty, and staff.
ITaP has implemented the Pharos Uniprint system. Pharos is an automated printing system that processes print requests and assesses a fee.
