Information Technology at Purdue (ITaP) has partnered with HP and Apple to offer high-quality, professional-level laptops to Purdue faculty, students and staff. This program currently offers three models, including both PC and Macintosh options. When you elect to participate in this program, you will receive a laptop of higher quality with a more complete software package, and, most importantly, on-campus service and support. Additionally, the HP models include a comprehensive insurance plan that includes accidental damage and theft and in the event of a computer hardware problem, a loaner laptop while their computers are under repair. All models carry a three-year hardware warranty, as well as a one-year battery warranty.

Several factors must be considered when selecting the laptop that is right for you, including your major, what kind of software you plan to use, which type of computer you are most comfortable with (PC or Macintosh), and what special capabilities you would like your laptop to have. Before deciding upon a model, you should check with your department or school about your hardware and software needs before purchasing any computer.

As this program grows and matures, ITaP may extend the options available by offering additional models and configurations to meet individual colleges and academic program needs.
