Focus 80 Braille Display

The Focus 80 Braille display works in conjunction with JAWS screen reader and allows the user to get tactile feedback. The Braille display is located on PC3 in the ALPS lab.

The Braille display does not use exact Grade 2 Braille Translation. For example capital letters are signified by raising the bottom left dot on the eight dot Braille cell. Standard Grade 2 Braille translation can be turned on by pressing the bottom of the far right rocker switch on the front of the display.

By default words are expanded to Grade 1 when the txt cursor is placed on them. The feature can be helpful when proofreading text. The text cursor can be easily moved to a specific character on the display by pressing the small cursor button above the cell.

Note: The Braille display is a very fragile device, It should not be moved.
