Kurzweil 3000 Licensing Options

There are three options for using Kurzweil 3000.

Internet License

This option requires you to have an internet connection whenever you are running Kurzweil 3000. If you plan to use Kurzweil 3000 when you do not have internet access, this will not be a good option.

Internet License-to-Go

This option will require you to check out a license from the Assistive Technology Center(ATC).  You will need to be running Kurzweil 3000 using Internet Licensing (See Above) while you are at the ATC to check out the License-to-Go.  This would work best if you are using a laptop with wireless connected to Purdue’s wireless network.  You will only be able to check out the License-to-Go for a semester and you will need to renew the License-to-Go every semester you use this option.

Non-Internet License-to-Go

This option will work best for users who do not have internet access on the computer they are planning to use for Kurzweil 3000.  You will only be able to check out the license for a semester and you will need to renew the license every semester you use this option.

Troubleshooting

Q. When I open up my e-text some of the toolbar options are greyed out. How can I use these options?

A. You need to copy the e-text from your CD to readable/writable storage such as a hard drive, flash drive, etc. The greyed out features change the document and are saved to the document when activated. If the document cannot be saved, these features are not available.

Q. Can I scan with my borrowed copy of Kurzweil 3000?

A. The copy of Kurzweil 3000 that has been loned to you does not have the character recognition engines required for scanning. You can scan documents in any of the ITaP PC labs and transfer the files to your borrowed copy of Kurzweil 3000.

Q. What happens when I uninstall/delete Kurzweil 3000 and do not return the License-to-Go?

A. Since you did not return your License-to-Go, it is still checked out to you. You can still use Kurzweil 3000 in the ITaP labs, have Kurzweil 3000 reinstalled on your computer, and use "Internet License"; however, you will not be able to use "Internet License-to-Go" or "Non-Internet License-to-Go" until the start of the next semester.

Q. I am using "Non-Internet License-to-Go." I typed in the code I was given at the DLC but Kurzweil 3000 did not work. What should I do?

A. Double check that you typed in the correct License-to-Go code. Write down the 10 digit System Code Kurzweil 3000 is displaying on your computer, to the System Code, your License-to-Go Code, and return to the ATC, Email the ATC staff, or call 765-494-4387. . They can check to ensure your License-to-Go Code is correct.
