Purdue Systems Security (PSS) is announcing that Immunet, the previously recommended Antivirus solution for Personal Computers, will be discontinued by Cisco on January 1st, 2024. PSS advises all users who have Immunet installed on their personal devices to remove the program and migrate to a new Antivirus solution before the beginning of the year. After that date, Immunet will no longer be updated or connected to Cisco’s cloud servers, and your personal computer may become vulnerable to new threats and viruses.

PSS is now recommending Malwarebytes as the Antivirus solution for personal computers.  Malwarebytes is available for both Windows and Mac operating systems. Purdue users can find the link to install the free version of Malwarebytes on on the vendor’s website (https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download). For instructions on how to install Malwarebytes, see "How do I install Malwarebytes on my personal computer?" in the Purdue IT knowledge base.

Note that Purdue IT does not provide extensive support for these products.  However, if you have issues installing Malwarebytes, uninstalling Immunet, or general security questions, please contact the Purdue IT Service Desk at https://service.purdue.edu.
