Classroom Services

Classroom services provide instructors and students with a variety of technologies that enhance the teaching and learning experience in and out of the classroom. The service line is comprised of the following four services:

The Technology In the Classroom (TIC) service provides instructors with high-tech lecture and presentation facilities for the classes they teach.

The eInstruction Service provides interactive classroom polling, attendance recording and quiz administration via hand-held response pads. It uses eInstruction’s CPS system as its base technology.

The BoilerCast service uses podcasting technology to deliver digital audio recordings of class lectures to portable audio playback devices such as iPods. It uses Apple, Inc.’s iTunes University as its base technology.

The Online Score Uploading Service provides instructors with processing of exams administered using “bubble sheet” exam answer forms. Exam scores are automatically loaded into online course environments within the Blackboard Vista system.

Faculty Development Services

TLT’s Instructional Support Services provides IT instructional assistance and information to Purdue faculty, staff, students and guests. This service line is comprised of the following service areas:

This service has Operational Level Agreements in place to define performance; it is owned by TLT’s Instructional Development Center department and is managed by the Director of the Instructional Development Center.

Training Services
TLT offers training in multimedia technologies for faculty and staff. Courses are available in multiple formats, from informational seminars to hands-on multimedia workshops; topics include: eCourses, Web Design, Graphics, Digital Video and Special Interest topics. This service does not use Operational or Service Level Agreements to define performance; it is owned by TLT’s Instructional Development Center department and is managed by the Director of the Instructional Development Center.

Digital Content Development Grants
The goal of the Instructional Development Center Grants program is to select and help implement projects that increase instructional effectiveness through the use of digital and online technology. The TLT department seeks to cultivate instructional excellence through experimentation with new ideas, teaching methods, and technologies. Projects should be innovative and technologically sophisticated, with strong prospects for effective implementation and continued use. Project proposals may address the strengths and limitations of applying technology in collaborative, interdisciplinary environments. In general, projects should strive to enhance the quality of instruction at Purdue.
