New wireless microphones needed in centrally scheduled classrooms

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) switch from analog to digital broadcasting technology has created the need to update the wireless microphone receivers located in centrally scheduled classrooms across campus. The existing Shure UC1 body pack will no longer work and will need to be replaced by the departments that own them. This needs to be done before classes begin in August.

Software changes in the Instructional Computing Labs

Over the summer, TLT upgraded many standard software programs that are available in the ITaP instructional computing labs and on Software Remote. For a complete list of standard software applications now available, see: Software Applications Available in all Instructional LAbs and Software Remote.

Windows Vista will NOT be deployed

Windows Vista will not be deployed in the instructional labs as previously announced. With Microsoft planning to release the next version of Windows in late 2009 or 2010, TLT will instead focus on the deployment capabilities of Windows 7.

Hardware changes in the Instructional Computing Labs

During the summer, 700 Windows desktop computers will be replaced in the instructional labs.

  • HP DC7900 with 4GB of memory and a 3GHz Core 2 Duo CPU
  • Deploying dual monitors in the following locations
    • GRIS 120/121
    • HIKS B853
    • SC G073
    • WTHR 114

ENAD labs closed

ENAD 302, 420 and 426 are now permanently closed.

JNSN B012 lab closed

JNSN B012 closed permanently 5/8/09.

New TIC sites coming this fall

JNSN 245, ME 263 and ME 312

Hosted Survey No Longer Available

On May 9, 2009, Hosted Survey was retired. Hosted Survey users should now use Qualtrics Survey.

MIDC Form Designer No Longer Available

On August 7, 2009 the MIDC Form Designer was retired. Users should now use Qualtrics Survey.

Turnitin - plagiarism tool

Turnitin to be replaced May 2010

Turnitin will be phased out over the next academic year and will be replaced with Blackboard's SafeAssign. Turnitin will be available until May 12, 2010, but instructors can move to SafeAssign this fall. SafeAssign is part of the Blackboard suite and is centrally hosted by Blackboard.
