Respondus Information

Respondus is a powerful tool for creating and managing exams and surveys that can be printed to paper or published directly to Blackboard Vista. Respondus allows you to work using a familiar Windows environment without the need to be connected to the internet.

You can download Respondus from the ITaP Training Web site:

  1. At the ITaP Training Web site, click the Learning Materials tab.
  2. Under Instructional Design and tools, select "Respondus".
  3. Select "Respondus Installation Files". (Note: from this page, you may also download the Respondus User's Manual.)
  4. At the login page, enter your Purdue University Career Account login and password, and click login.
  5. When prompted, save the file Respondus2.zip to your local computer.
  6. Unzip the file on your computer.
  7. After you unzip the file, you will see a folder called Respondus with two files inside it: Respondus36Campus.exe and Respondus35Instructions.pdf.
  8. To install Respondus, double-click the file Respondus36Campus.exe and follow the prompts. You may accept all of the default settings the install wizard suggests.
  9. After installation, you can run Respondus by double-clicking its icon on your desktop, or by selecting it from your computer's program menu.
  10. The first time you run it, you will be asked for a license key. Open the PDF document, Respondus35Instructions.pdf, to retrieve it.
  11. Before you begin working with Respondus, it is a good idea to check for available updates. To do this, in Respondus, select the Help menu, and then Check for Update.
