More advanced users may want to use an account on a UNIX system. Your Purdue Career Account login and password can be used to access a UNIX account. All students receive an account on expert.ics.purdue.edu and all instructors receive an account on mentor.ics.purdue.edu.

Your UNIX account gives you access to the UNIX operation system and a variety of advanced tools, including a MySQL database account.

Accessing your UNIX Account
To access your UNIX account, you will need to download and install a secure telnet program and connect to expert.ics.purdue.edu(students) or mentor.ics.purdue.edu(instructors). Use your Purdue Career Account login and password to log in to your UNIX account.
