The Assistive Technology Center is located in Stewart Center, room 111. The Assistive Technology Center (ATC) promotes an accessible information technology infrastructure at Purdue that is usable by all students, faculty, and staff regardless of disability status.
The ATC does this by providing:
The center provides instruction and support in the use of adaptive computer technology for students with disabilities. To use these facilities, make an appointment with the Disability Resource Center, by calling (765) 494-1247 for a personal evaluation. We believe that one-on-one consultation is the most effective way to learn about the adaptive technologies available on the Purdue campus and to determine which are best for you. Once you have been approved to use the center, please make an appointment to see the facilities with David Schwarte or Dean Brusnighan.
The Assistive Technology Center will assist Purdue faculty, staff, students, or organizations by helping develop a fully accessible web site, or evaluating an existing web site using adaptive technology. Information on creating accessible web sites is also available at the Purdue Universal Access Initiative web site.
Our staff can also assist Purdue faculty and staff with the evaluation, installation and maintenance of Purdue adaptive software. Please contact Pat Russell at 40269 to see if you qualify for assistance.
If you are a student needing the center's resources, we can help you determine what adaptive technology or technologies will best meet your needs and teach you to use these products. Before scheduling an individual consultation, please contact your Disability Resource Center counselor.
Training is available to faculty, students and staff in the use of adaptive technology. One-on-one training and instruction is available by appointment on such topics as:
