The TLT Distance Education Incentive Awards Program provides support and awards Purdue faculty for the development of high-quality distance education courses on the West Lafayette campus.
All faculty and staff at the West Lafayette campus and the Statewide Technology sites are eligible. Courses submitted to the program must be developed and delivered as distance education courses from a learning management system platform, such as Blackboard. Hybrid or blended classes are not eligible. Any course that has been given the award in the three years previous to the current year is not eligible.
To be eligible for the award, course developers are required to:
All courses submitted for evaluation will be assessed according to the criteria on the Incentive Awards Program Course Submission Form
Upon submission of your application, TLT consultants will evaluate your class according to the four areas described in the Course Submission Form: Course Design, Interaction and Collaboration, Assessment, and Learner Support. Evaluators will rate the course on a 5-point scale, with an average of three necessary in each area to qualify for an award.
Evaluators will return detailed comments with their evaluations to course developers. If they wish, course developers may make changes to their course based on evaluator comments and re-submit their courses for a new evaluation, as long as these are submitted by the final resubmission due date, January 29, 2010.
The top ten ranked distance education courses will be selected to receive a $3,000 incentive award from IDC, and will be recognized at a 2010 TLT Conference awards presentation.
After fulfilling the program requirements listed above, submit your completed Course Submission form by emailing it to tlt-consulting@purdue.edu.
