Presented by: Prof. Kyle Lutes, Computer Technology

Location: STEW 318
Date: Wednesday, September 15, 12:30-1:30
Anyone who teaches in a computer lab can attest to the distraction an Internet-connected PC causes. Most likely your class is in a computer lab because there is some computer software your students need to learn to use. But how do you limit which software they use while you are giving instruction? And giving exams in a computer lab is even worse. How do you prevent students from using instant messaging, email, the web, telnet, and FTP to cheat? The Department of Computer Technology (CPT) faculty face these problems for virtually every course they offer and so created LabMonitor2. Kyle Lutes will demonstrate and talk about how LabMonitor2 can give instructors peace of mind because it watches what is happening on each students' PC (which applications are run, changes to the file system, and what network connections are made) so the instructor doesn't have to.
