eInstruction/CPS: Getting Started with Clickers

ABOUT EINSTRUCTION

e-Instruction provides in-class, real-time electronic quizzing and polling capability. The system is available in all West Lafayette TIC (Technology in Classroom) sites and ITaP labs. Instructors can download the software to an office or home machine for free. Students pay a small cost (currently around $21) for the response pads which they can use in all of their classes, and they can register their response pads in your course through Blackboard.

Instructors can take attendance, ask ungraded verbal questions (an excellent way to check student understanding anonymously), or create quizzes and exams that are graded automatically and can be uploaded into the Blackboard grade book with a single click! Additional features include: export of assessments into various reporting formats including Excel, Fastgrade (an answer key feature for grading homework), and Powerpoint integration.

THE WORKSHOP

This workshop will be part informational, part demo and part hands on. During the hands-on portion, attendees will

• access the software
• create databases and lessons
• enter and edit questions
• edit databases and lessons
• input PowerPoint files and create answer keys
• work with the CPS gradebook and export grades into Blackboard
