This course is designed for Faculty and Staff who need to create reports offering more than the pre-packaged dynamic reports available through Cognos Connection. Brio report writers have the preferred skill set for this course. This course provides orientation to Cognos Connection to run reports, as well as the process to create quick, ad-hoc queries using Query Studio. Reports that are created with Query Studio may be shared with other users of Cognos Connection. Course Description:

4 Day Course - 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for 4 consecutive days. This course is designed for Faculty and Staff who have a need to create in-depth reports. Those with previous knowledge of relational database design and function will have the skill set preferred. This course provides an orientation to Cognos Connection. Participants will use the in-depth Cognos reporting tool, Report Studio as well as the ad-hoc reporting tool, Query Studio. Instructions include: • Navigating and running reports using Cognos Connection • Using Report Studio to create and run one or more queries in a report • Using Query Studio to create and run ad-hoc reports Skills used include: • Sorting and filtering data • Using aggregation functions • Concatenation • Creating prompts • Adding multiple pages to the report • Editing report expressions • Running drill-through reports using parent/child relationships Audience: Faculty and Staff who do reporting as a major part of their position and have an ongoing need to create reports for their department/unit, as well as author reports for others in their area to run. Course Description:

This is a 2 1/2 day course. The first two sessions are 8:30am - 5:00pm. The third session is 8:30am - 12:00pm. Audience: Staff who do reporting as a major part of their position and have an ongoing need to create reports for their department/unit. This is the same course as COG 300 but is at a much faster pace, designed for people very familiar with reporting tools. Description: This course provides an orientation to the basic Cognos navigational system and tools in Query Studio. Participants will also be introduced to in-depth reporting tools in Report Studio. Please bring orders to the sessions related to the topic; this is practice time with Purchasing staff available to answer questions. As this is a beginner class, the pace of the class is set slower. |
