Personal Website

All Purdue University faculty, staff, and students can set up and publish a personal website. A www folder and sample index.html file already exists in your Purdue Home Directory and can be accessed by following instructions found on the GoldAnswers self-help knowledge base.

Your website address is where "username" is your Purdue Career Account username. Any files that you would like to use as part of your website should be placed in your www folder.

To edit your website

To edit your website, open the index.html file with any website editing software. Adobe Dreamweaver is available on all ITaP lab PCs. Adobe Dreamweaver is also available on all ITaP lab Macs.

About the Web server

NOTE: This is a self-serve service. You are responsible for any content you post online.

The following versions of software are available on the web server: Apache 2.2.4, PHP, mod_perl 2.0.2, MySQL 5.0.45. If you recieve PHP permission errors, please see Why do I get PHP permission errors on my website?

You can also create a MySQL account for database use.

The web server does not support ASP, VBSCRIPT, or FrontPage extensions.
