Purdue Email Migration

During the spring 2019 semester, faculty and staff Purdue Exchange email, currently hosted on campus, will begin moving to a Purdue version of Microsoft’s Exchange cloud service. Your mailbox will simply move from on-site servers to the cloud, and no emails will be lost in the process. In fact, having your mailbox in the cloud means a more reliable and accessible system.

We will notify you the week before your mailbox is scheduled to move. Current emails will generally be inaccessible for approximately one hour during the move.

What’s the benefit to me?

The change should provide more robust email service and save the University the cost of operating and maintaining its own email hardware, while better positioning Purdue for future IT projects. Everyone will receive 50 gigabytes of mailbox space, 10 times what most people have now.

What else do I need to know?

This project will take several weeks during the spring semester. We will begin moving accounts soon after the semester begins and should be finished by the end of March 2019. ITaP and campus academic IT staff members will be ready to assist with this process.
