Staff Bios

Ed Dunn

Ed has a bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Ed worked at television stations in Illinois and South Carolina before coming to Purdue in 1990. He is a multiple Communicator Award winner and currently enjoys a pint of Guinness while editing. Ed has also worked as a disc jockey and once was quoted as saying "You know, if you twist the knobs on the oven too much, you'll burn the cake."

Nathan Caldwell

Nathan Caldwell is our newest employee. Nathan comes from a background in news as a news video journalist. After the hectic rigors of news-gathering, Nathan decided to focus on research and feature-based video production. He enjoys writing, and working outdoors.

Brent Childers

Brent obtained a bachelor's degree in Telecommunications from Indiana University in 2002. He has also received a NISDM certificate of completion in advanced After Effects training. He has accumulated a wide variety of experience in television & video production including everything from producing health topic and public affair shows for PBS to professional sports videography for the Outdoor Channel and the NBA. In his spare time, Brent likes to play racquetball, write and perform sketch comedy, and play his drum set when he finds the time.

Jason Doty

Jason has a bachelor's degree from Indiana University and a master's degree from Florida State University's School of Motion Picture, Television and Recording Arts. While a film student at Florida State Jason's short film "Escape Back to the Movies" was selected in 2000 to receive the Coca-Cola Refreshing Filmmaker's Award. The film was shown on more than 13,000 screens as pre-feature entertainment in movie theaters across the country. "Anderson", his graduate thesis film screened and competed in over 25 international film festivals winning several top prizes. Jason's been a Producer/Director at Purdue University for six years. A multiple Telly Award-winner his work has received recognition regionally and nationally.

Robert Hart

Robert Hart received a Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications from Purdue University in 1998. Upon graduation, Hart worked as Producer/Editor for Insight Communications' Community Access & Media Advertising divisions. Among his accolades, Hart has been the recipient of the Indiana ICTA Vision Award (1999, 2001) and the 2005 Cleveland Health Awareness Award.

Steve Sloan

Steve has a bachelor's degree from Purdue University. Steve started working for Video and Multimedia Services as a student, recording various classes. From there, Steve remained an employee of the department as a temporary, regular half time, and eventually full time production assistant. Steve held the full time production assistant position for eight years, and now, since January 2007, holds the position of Operations Coordinator

We can bring our professional studio services to you! Our field productions unit is fully-equipped with True 1080 HD video cameras, portable lighting, teleprompter capabilities, and stereo audio recording.

Our professional Broadcast Television Studio located in Stewart Center B-26 is fully-equipped to meet all broadcast standards for live or video-taped productions. Examples include both high-end regional and national teleconferences.

Video Conferencing

ITaP Video Conferencing at Purdue

ITaP offers faculty, staff and students a video conferencing facility ideal for long-distance meetings, interviews, thesis defenses or any other information-sharing sessions in Stewart Center (STEW), Room 209. Additional rooms and seating capacity are available through a mobile video conferencing service*.

  • Three large projection screens
  • Polycom, Tandberg, and Lifesize H.323 IP video conferencing sessions
  • Web conferencing or Unified Communications (UC) capabilities
  • Recording of the complete event possible on DVD, MPEG2, wmv, Flash, MP4 and others
  • Forty-seat capacity**
  • Five-camera view presented to far site participants
  • Space available for refreshments when arranged in advance through the Purdue Memorial Union (PMU)

 *Video Conferencing using STEW 209 or the mobile cart is fee-based at $89 per hour. 
**We can accommodate larger seating capacity by using our mobile unit in other PMU or STEW rooms.

Available through a full-time video conference technician

  • Coordinates schedules and tests prior to the event day
  • Manages all sessions
  • Switches between cameras and PowerPoint or PDF files
  • Troubleshoots problems if they occur which allows presenters and participants to focus all their attention on the event

Additional Help

Our video conference technician is available to move equipment to your location, install it as well as train users how to use it.
