MySQL Database Services

The ITAS Database Administration team provides MySQL databases for use by customers on the Purdue University campus.

Career Account Databases

Individuals having a Purdue Career Account are eligible to have one MySQL database to use for personal and academic reasons.

Access to the Career Account database environment is restricted to the Purdue University network.

Administrative Databases

Internal IT and Deparments may request MySQL hosting for their projects and applications. We have two major support models for MySQL database hosting.

Shared Hosting

The shared hosting environment provides a space for individual MySQL database instances shared with other customers. Databases are owned by the customers requesting them, but they share resources with other customers.

  • Development - The Development environment is where initial installation, development and other testing activities occur. All customers will receive a DEV database instance before proceeding to production.
  • Production - The Production environment is used for live applications. This environment is not intended for initial installation, development or testing.

Dedicated Hosting

Dedicated hosting is available for systems and applications requiring full access to hardware resources and cannot tolerate shared computing resources. Please contact our team for further information regarding this environment.
