StudyMate is an authoring tool that allows you to create ten Flash-based activities and games using three simple templates. The Flash activities can be used with any web server or published directly to Blackboard. StudyMate will import items from Microsoft Word files, Respondus, IMS QTI and other formats as well as publisher test banks.

StudyMate can allow you to do the following:

  • Create games (such as crossword puzzles, flash cards, etc) that can help students retain content and information.
  • Increase student interactivity within your Blackboard course.
  • Help provide an engaging way to assist students in preparing for assessments.

Workstation Installation and Licensing

Purdue University has obtained a campus-wide license for StudyMate software. Faculty and staff may install StudyMate on their home or office computer. For faculty and staff wishing to have StudyMate installed on their work computers, please contact your local IT support group for assistance in installing the program.

StudyMate is available for Windows only; there is no Mac version available.

To obtain StudyMate software, please send your request to tlt-consulting@purdue.edu.

Please note that you may not share the StudyMate installation file and license information with anyone who is not affiliated with Purdue. Such an action is a violation of our licensing agreement with Respondus (the maker of StudyMate), and is also illegal.

After installing StudyMate, the program may search for updates. Please allow the program to download and install any updates.

License Term and Updating Information

The license information for StudyMate changes once per year, usually at the beginning of August. If your installation of StudyMate indicates your license is out of date, you will need to request the new license information from tlt-consulting@purdue.edu.

For support using StudyMate, our license does not allow for faculty and staff to receive direct support from StudyMate.  Please email itap@purdue.edu if you need troubleshooting assistance with StudyMate.
