Creating accessible classrooms, websites and documents part of April workshop offerings

Accessible classrooms, websites and documents will be the topic of three workshops in April, among the professional development opportunities available from Purdue’s Innovative Learning Team.

Throughout the spring semester, the Innovative Learning Team is hosting a series of professional development events designed to familiarize faculty with instructional technology available on campus. Faculty and instructional staff can find a full listing of offerings online, but April’s offerings include:

Introduction to Classroom Accessibility: April 3
This workshop provides an overview of accessibility policies, challenges and resources at Purdue, covering topic such as document formatting, video captioning, creating alt-texts and responding to student accommodation requests. 

Tech Today: April 5
Learn about Circuit, the Purdue Studio tool that allows instructors to facilitate calibrated peer evaluation and review, which improves student performance as both writers and reviewers.

Introduction to Website Accessibility: April 9
This workshop provides hands-on experience creating and testing a website for accessibility, including common challenges like color contrast, keyboard navigation and website structure. Attendees should have some experience creating and managing their own websites before attending. 

Qualtrics Advanced – Email Triggers: April 16
This advanced Qualtrics session will focus on email triggers, which send an email notification to someone when a survey response is completed and specified conditions are met. Previous experience with Qualtrics (creating new surveys, creating questions) is necessary.

Creating Better Designed Documents for your Students Using Microsoft Word and Acrobat Pro DC: April 23
Self-paced workshop will walk through how to create accessible Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Pro DC documents.
