Reminder: Re-boot computer to receive alert notifications

An update to the Alertus emergency response notification system took place in late May, and users who have not had their University-supported computers connected to the Purdue network should reboot their machines (while connected to VPN or while physically on campus) to ensure that they can continue to receive emergency notifications.

The Alertus notification system is used to warn campus of emergency events – such as dangerous weather – and sends an alert that blocks users’ screens until it is acknowledged. Machines that do not receive the software update will continue to receive notices from Alertus, but will be updated the next time they log into the University network.

The Alertus upgrade will not affect email or text message notifications. To sign up for Alertus notifications on personal devices, visit https://www.purdue.edu/newsroom/health_safety/mail.html.
