Math data centers scheduled maintenance outage this Saturday

Planned power maintenance is scheduled for the Mathematical Sciences (MATH) building’s ground floor Data Centers on Saturday, July 31, starting at 8 a.m. and lasting through the evening. This work is required to provide power to the National Science Foundation funded supercomputer Anvil, which is expected to go online this fall.

A number of systems in the Data Center will need to be powered off prior to the work commencing. The individuals and groups affected have already been notified. These systems host research, academic, and some non-critical administrative services. Critical Data Center systems, including authentication systems and email, will remain operational but without a redundant source of power should there be an unrelated power failure.

Power should be restored on or about midnight, depending on circumstances related to the work.
