May-June technology workshops cover Blackboard, Replay, Qualtrics, WebEx and accessibility tools 

ITaP’s Teaching and Learning Technologies team is hosting a series of May and June workshops designed to introduce faculty and staff to available technologies ranging from web conferencing to survey creation and the new gamification tool Replay.

Blackboard Learn

  • Finalizing your Blackboard course webinar

Learn how to back up course data, transfer content to another course site, clean up your gradebook and make courses unavailable in this webinar designed to help instructors prepare for the end of the semester.

11 to 11:30 a.m., May 4, online

  • Blackboard upgrade preview webinar

Blackboard Learn is receiving an upgrade on May 13. This webinar provides instructors with a sneak peek at new features as well as potential changes to course workflows.

12 to 12:30 p.m., May 4, online

  • Getting  your Blackboard course ready webinar

During this webinar, learn how to prepare your course for the semester. Topics include: uploading your syllabus and other files to Blackboard; adding teaching assistants and other instructors to your course site; copying content from one course site to another; and making your course available to students.

12 to 12:30 p.m., May 15, online

WebEx

Learn how to use Purdue’s web-conferencing tool in a hands-on workshop or online via a WebEx webinaar. Topics include group activities, scheduling meetings, sharing screens, hosting audio or video conferences and more.

Replay

Learn about Replay, a new app created at Purdue that turns learning into a game. Replay helps your students retain what they're learning in classes in a question and answer application that allows them to compete against their fellow students, earn status badges and more. This session is interactive. Bring a laptop, tablet, or smartphone to try out Replay.

Qualtrics

  • Qualtrics Basics

This workshop will introduce users to Qualtrics, the online survey tool used for everything from research to event registration. Attendees will learn how to create and preview a basic survey, view results and create a report.

2:30 to 3:30 p.m., May 31, in Stanley Coulter, Room 179

  • Qualtrics advanced – email triggers

This advanced session will focus on email triggers, which send an email notification when a survey response is completed and specified conditions are met. When you need to know about a response immediately or send a follow-up email to respondents, email triggers provide a simple solution. Previous experience with Qualtrics (creating new surveys, creating questions) is required.

2:30 to 3:30 p.m., May 17, in Stanley Coulter, Room 179

  • Qualtrics advanced – using contact lists

This advanced Qualtrics session will focus on how to use a contact list within Qualtrics to distribute surveys to a specific audience.

Accessibility

  • Compliance Sheriff

Learn to use Compliance Sheriff software, which conducts automated tests on a website to help determine whether it is accessible. Attendees will learn how to set up a scan and create a report and best practices for using available resources. (To use Compliance Sheriff, you must go through this training first.)
