SPSS Standard for University Machines

IBM's SPSS Standard is a statistical program for the Social Sciences.  It is used for statistical analytics and data collection. 

To request SPSS for your University-owned machine, contact your department's IT support. SPSS Standard for University Machine is distributed exclusively by the IT groups on campus, and is not available from the ITaP Software Distribution Office.  All licensing is handled by an on-campus license server.  As long as Purdue continues its agreement for SPSS, SPSS Standard for University Machines will not expire. 

The Standard product includes:

  • SPSS Statistics Base
  • SPSS Advanced Statistics
  • SPSS Regression

University owned installation is covered for the West Lafayette campus and its satellite locations.  For Purdue-related instructional and research activities only.  Administrative use of SPSS is not covered under this agreement.  All licensing for University owned installations of SPSS are handled through a campus license server.  A persistent connection to Purdue's network is required.  Faculty, Staff, and Graduate Students should contact their departmental IT directly to request installation.

The Regional Campuses are not included in West Lafayette's agreement.

SPSS Standard is not available for installation on personally-owned machines.  Please see SPSS for Personal Machines for instructions and availablity of SPSS for faculty and staff owned computers.

Current Available Versions: 22, 23, and 24


Purdue has an unlimited number of licenses for SPSS for Purdue West Lafayette owned machines.  Our agreement covers the Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux versions of the product for Teaching, Academic, or non-commercial research use only. 


Distributionn of SPSS for University owned machines is handled exclusively by campus IT groups.  Please contact your IT Support Specialist to request installation.  No registration or approval is required by ITaP Software Licensing.


Please contact your IT Support Specialist for any software issues encountered.  Be sure to provide details of problem, including the exact text of any warnings received and the steps during use where the issue arises.
