ITaP updates and information for on-campus students

Things all students returning to campus this fall should know:

Protect Purdue plan

Have questions about Purdue’s response to COVID-19? The Protect Purdue website is the central location for information and resources to help protect our campus community.

Protect Purdue Health Center

The Protect Purdue Health Center (PPHC) is a dedicated center for West Lafayette campus students, faculty and staff. It will serve as the main point of contact for COVID-19 sampling, testing and quarantining on campus. The center is staffed 24 hours a day and anyone feeling ill or who has potentially been exposed to the virus should call the Purdue COVID-19 Information Center at 765-496-4636 or toll-free at 1-833-571-1043.

Campus Map

BoilerKey

BoilerKey, Purdue’s version of two-factor authentication, improves the security of protected computer systems and personal data. Most students need to use BoilerKey every day – it grants access to tools like Brightspace and My Purdue.

Career Account and Password

New students will receive instructions on activating their Purdue Career Account in their acceptance packet. If you have forgotten your password, follow the instructions found here

Brightspace replaces Blackboard

New for 2020, Purdue no longer uses the Blackboard Learn management system and has switched to using the D2L Brightspace system.

  • To log in to Brightspace: www.purdue.brightpace.com.
  • Have questions about using Brightspace? Use the “Help” function within Brightspace to search for videos and tutorials designed to help students navigate the new platform.

BoilerCast lecture videos

Many courses use the BoilerCast lecture capture system to livestream or record in-class lectures. Your instructor should provide a link to view their videos, typically via Brightspace.  To access BoilerCast videos in Brightspace, click on the “Course Tools” tab and then select “Kaltura Media Gallery.” (Instructions with images available here.)

Some BoilerCast users have reported issues viewing videos; users should try switching web browsers (Safari reportedly causes the most problems; Firefox may be best option).

  • Printing is available on campus at more than 100 print stations locations in computer labs and residence halls. New for 2020, to reduce contact with shared surfaces, all printers will allow students to release print jobs hands-free.
